The price rise is coming and it is hard to ignore the obvious reasons for the big shift and the industry has already raised the white flag. This means buying phones, laptops or even PCs is going to become costlier, at least for the next 12 months (if not more) and you could in many ways say that the AI revolution is causing this disruption that most of us didn’t foresee.

The inevitable price hike is caused by the heavy demand for memory chips that keep the AI data centres running, and that demand means manufacturers have to offset the industry demand to keep their businesses running.

The True AI Disruption

You’ve read people losing jobs because of the AI revolution but another big scare has come about in recent months with companies like HP already warning about the imminent price increase across products. The company CEO has been quoted saying the DDR5 RAM prices have gone up by a staggering 200 percent in recent weeks, and its impact will be felt in the market in the next 3 to 6 months once the existing stocks are over.

As you might know, companies create a stockpile of components to avoid mid-term price fluctuations and even more the memory chips that are currently being managed. But not just HP, other brands are likely to feel the pinch of higher component costs and consumers will have to bear the increase by paying more for PCs and other peripherals.

Buy Now

Reading these warning signs, it is clear that people who have been waiting for any possible price drops should quickly make the purchase before the memory prices are hard to avoid.

The biggest impact because of the memory prices could be felt in the budget PC segment, where people with limited money will either have to compromise on quality and performance or spend a little more than they would have done today. We also expect the premium AI laptop/PC market to see a definite price revision, which is going to make them even more expensive for buyers.

Now that the Windows 10 support has officially ended, many would have wanted to upgrade to a new Windows 11 PC and with these warnings, we suggest you do it right away.
