Harsh Dubey To Lead Vidarbha in SMAT 2025
All-rounder Harsh Dubey, following his impressive performance at the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, will captain Vidarbha’s 17-member squad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, scheduled to be held in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8.
Dubey recently scored his maiden T20 fifty to guide India into the semifinals in Doha and also took four wickets in four matches.
The slow left-arm orthodox bowler had a record-breaking Ranji Trophy 2024-25 campaign, claiming 69 wickets—the most in the tournament’s history—playing a crucial role in Vidarbha’s title victory.
He was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for R Smaran in IPL 2025.
Vidarbha, who made a quarterfinal exit last season under Jitesh after losing to Mumbai, will also have wicketkeeper Shivam Deshmukh in the squad. Yash Thakur has been named vice-captain.
The squad includes veteran India pacer Umesh Yadav, who will return to action after a year. The 38-year-old last played in the 2024 edition of the tournament, featuring in two matches.
Vidarbha will start their campaign against Chhattisgarh in Lucknow on November 26 in group A. The other teams in the group are Mumbai, Odisha, Kerala, Assam, Railways, and Andhra.
