The Pakistan Shaheens were seen celebrating emphatically after they beat India by eight wickets at the Rising Stars Asia Cup, an expected show of emotion after constant defeats across formats and ongoing political tensions between the two nations.
Opting to field after winning the toss, Pakistan Shaheens staged a brilliant comeback to bowl out India A for a paltry 136 after they were cruising along at 91/3 in the 10th over.
In reply, the Shaheens chased down the target of 137 with as many as 40 deliveries to spare for their second consecutive win in the tournament, even as India suffered their first defeat after beginning the campaign with a big victory over the UAE.
Veteran batter Mohammad Faiq finished off the victory over India in spectacular fashion, smashing a towering six off Naman Dhir over deep midwicket, triggering ecstatic celebrations in the Shaheens’ camp.
Faiq and Maaz Sadaqat, both unbeaten and steering Pakistan to the win against India, returned to the dugout buzzing with energy. Roars, high-fives and heartfelt hugs filled the celebration as the team savoured the emphatic victory.
