Naseem Shah’s family home in Lower Dir was attacked by unknown assailants but no injuries occurred. Police are investigating as Naseem remains with Pakistan’s squad.

In a shocking incident, Pakistan fast-bowler Naseem Shah’s family home in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was attacked by unknown assailants on Monday morning. The assailants fired at the gate of his home and fled immediately. None in the family or otherwise was reported to be injured.
It is yet to be ascertained who, if anyone, was at home at the time. A police investigation is underway to determine the motive and the impact of the attack. According to the Dawn newspaper, Naseem’s father, Abbas Shah, met with the police, who assured him the assailants would be brought to justice.
“Unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of national cricket team fast bowler Naseem Shah. The firing damaged the main gate, windows, and a vehicle at the property. Police reached the scene, and five suspects have been taken into custody. Mayar Police Station has registered a case, and further action is underway to arrest those involved,” The Tribune quoted a police spokesperson.
Naseem was with the national men’s side in Rawalpindi as they prepared to take on Sri Lanka. According to ESPNcricinfo, the fast-bowler will not return home as of now and is expected to be available for the series.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka begin a three-match ODI series in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. It will be followed by a T20I tri-series that also involves Zimbabwe later this month. Naseem is part of both squads.
