Vastu Direction For Home Temple: It is very important to have a Mandir in the house, it is the center of positive energy, energy and divine blessings. The right direction of the Mandir brings happiness, peace, and prosperity in the house. Detailed information about the direction of the Mandir according to Vastu is given below:
The most favourable and ideal direction for a Mandir
The north-east direction (IshanKon) is considered the most suitable and ideal direction for building a Mandir or prayer room in the home. The north-east direction (Ishan Kon) is considered the corner of the gods and is directly associated with Lord Shiva. This direction attracts the maximum flow of cosmic and magnetic energy.
The first rays of the morning sun enter the home from this direction, filling the atmosphere with clean and positive energy. The ruling planet of this direction is Jupiter, which is the factor of knowledge, wisdom, and prosperity. Establishing a church here ensures spiritual purity, good health, and spiritual growth.
Alternative Favorable Directions
If unavoidable circumstances prevent the mandir from being placed in the northeast corner, Vastu Shastra considers another direction suitable. Being the direction of sunrise, the east direction is also an excellent choice for worship.
It symbolizes new beginnings, positivity, and optimism. The north direction is associated with the Naga, the god of wealth. A north-facing Mandir brings wealth and prosperity to your home and aids spiritual growth.
Tips (to avoid bad omens)
Vastu Shastra strictly prohibits building Mandirs in certain directions and locations. These locations can attract negative energy and hinder the purpose of worship:
The south direction is associated with Yama (the god of death) and is not considered auspicious for worship. The southwest corner (Drashtra Kund) is associated with stability and relationships, not worship and adoration.
The space under the stairs is filled with negative energy; a church should not be built here. A church should not be built next to, above, or below a toilet or bathroom, as this is considered impure.
Avoid placing the place of worship in the bedroom, as it is a place for rest and private activities. Mandir is a place of purity and peace. If you have to keep it in the bedroom due to a lack of space, keep it covered, and do not keep your feet towards the Mandir while sleeping. It’s always best to place the Mandir on the ground floor, as it serves as the energy center of the entire home.
The Deities’ Face and Your Face (During Worship)
Along with the direction of the mandir, the direction you and the idols face during worship is also important:
You should face east or north when performing worship. Worshipping facing east brings knowledge and growth, while worshipping facing north brings wealth and opportunities. Deity idols should be placed in the east or west. This naturally causes the worshipper to face north or east.
Other Important Vastu Rules
Mandir idols should not be placed directly on the ground. They should be placed on a raised platform (at least 6 inches above the ground). Idols should not be placed against a wall; maintain a distance of a few inches for ventilation. Using natural materials like wood or marble for the mandir is considered auspicious.
It is best to place lamps and a fire pit (if in use) in the southeast corner (Agneya Kon) of the mandir. The mandir area should always be kept clean, organized, and clutter-free to maintain the flow of positive energy. Broken or damaged idols should be removed immediately.
