Abhishek Sharma has been in a rich vein of form lately. The Punjab batter, mentored by former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, had a terrific T20I series in Australia, finishing as the highest run-getter. Abhishek accumulated 163 runs in 5 matches and bagged the Player of the Series award.

Recently, Yuvraj disclosed a secret about the young batter, sharing that anyone can take anything from Abhishek except his bats. The former cricketer mentioned that the youngster is unwilling to part with his willows and often provides inaccurate information about the number of bats he owns.

“You can take anything from Abhishek Sharma, but nobody can take a bat from him,” Yuvraj said in an interaction where Abhishek was also present.

Ye mar jayega, pit jayega, ro dega par apna bat nahi dega (He will fight for it, even cry, but won’t give away his bat). Even if he has 10 bats, he’ll still say, I only have two. He took all my bats, but he gives his own,” Yuvraj added.

India pocketed the 5-match T20I series 2-1 against Australia on Saturday. The visitors blazed their way to 52 for no loss in 4.5 overs when inclement weather put paid to the proceedings. Praising Abhishek’s camaraderie with Shubman Gill, captain Surykumar Yadav said they put smiles on the faces of everyone and are learning the different facets of dealing with various match situations in the shortest format

“When Abhishek and Shubman bat together at the top of the order, they put a smile on the faces of fans,” Surya told reporters before explaining what makes the pair ‘Abhi-man’ tick.

“If the wicket is difficult, like the last game in (Gold Coast), they read the wicket well. They finished the Powerplays without taking risks and batted after that. People learn with experience. They communicate well and they are learning,” said the India skipper.
