Smartphone discounts have been crazy this festive season but the honeymoon period is coming to an end. That’s not all, a new report claims buyers should get ready to shell out more for smartphones in the country.

Some of the new launches expected before the end of 2025 and early 2026 are going to flagship-grade and it claims brands will have no choice but to hike their prices which has been kept in control for a while.

Phone Prices To Go Up Soon: Here’s Why

While the festive season allowed you to buy the iPhone 16 or a Pixel 9 model for a discounted price, the post-festive market is going to be less generous. The report by Moneycontrol claims that phone prices have already gone up by Rs 2,000 and the new ones launching in the next few weeks are likely to cost over Rs 6,000 than the previous version.

What’s the reason for such a big hike? The report points to issues like rising cost of memory parts, supply chain issues and the lowering of Indian rupee against the US dollar. You could also say that all the craze for AI in phones will also play a big part in the chip powering these devices to become costlier.

The likes of OnePlus, Realme, Vivo and more are going to launch their new premium phones in the market very soon and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how these phones are priced for buyers in the country.

The report says brands like Vivo, Oppo and even Samsung have already revised the prices of their mid-range phones and others might be getting a bump soon.

The festive sales might have brought some relief to sellers but if these reported changes happen buyers might wait a little longer before buying/upgrading to their next premium phone. The only brand that might be immune to these price hikes is Apple which continues to sell the iPhone 17 and older models in big numbers.
