Indian Heaven Premier League is in chaos as players claimed they were told “not to come to the stadium” because of “technical issues,” resulting in match cancellations.

The Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL), a T20 cricket tournament taking place in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, involving local, national, and international players, has encountered significant challenges. Some players are stranded at a local hotel, and reports suggest that organisers have fled the Valley.
The event, organised by private sponsors, is facing difficulties after several players allegedly boycotted matches due to unpaid dues, leading to disruption.
According to a report in Economic Times, IHPL was organised by Mohali-based Yuva Society and allegedly promoted by J&K Sports Council with its secretary Nuzhat Gul present during the opening ceremony and match.
However, Gul now claims that the government or the Sports Council has “nothing to do” with the IHPL.
“Officially, this league has nothing to do with the government or Sports Council. They had booked Bakhshi stadium for the matches and paid for that,” Gul told ET. When asked about her presence at the inaugural match and promotion of the league, she said, “I can get invites from anyone… that doesn’t prove any association or impact my credibility in any way,” he said.
Reports indicated that players scheduled to play claimed they were told “not to come to the stadium” because of “technical issues,” resulting in match cancellations.
Previously, a cricketer from the valley announced his withdrawal from the league, citing irregularities and lack of clarity regarding contracts and payments.
Additionally, matches slated for Saturday and today at Bakshi Stadium were cancelled as players refused to play.
Officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, a government entity, clarified their non-involvement in the privately run league, stating they only provided the ground, subject to standard charges.
A player whose match was scheduled for today said he was advised not to report to the ground due to “technical issues.” “My match was scheduled for today, and when I contacted my manager, he informed me not to come to the stadium due to technical problems.”
Many international players have departed from Srinagar, while several cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir remain at a local hotel.
Individuals associated with catering, bus driving, and other services also claim non-payment and express concerns about receiving their dues.
The league, endorsed by a prominent Jammu and Kashmir cricketer, is not recognised by the BCCI or the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
