It’s five for Deepti Sharma and it’s history made for the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, who win their first-ever Women’s World Cup!
With one wicket needed to win, and the ever-dangerous Nadine de Klerk on strike, it was all down to the wily Indian spinner, who tempted the SA batter with a slower ball, which was chipped up and caught by none other than skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to seal the deal.
Deepti finished off her outing in the historic final with a scintillating fifty with the bat first, and then a five-for with the ball, registering figures of 5/39, to lead India to the promised land in the death overs, as the Women in Blue etched a 52-run win to lift the elusive trophy.
