Sachin Tendulkar shares a heartfelt tribute to Rohan Bopanna as he retires from tennis, reflecting on the latter’s inspiring journey.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday evening left a heartwarming message for the retiring Rohan Bopanna, saying that his character showed in his every serve, adding how the latter proved that belief can outlast time. The latter hung up his boots from professional tennis earlier in the day.
The 45-year-old Bopanna made his final ATP Tour appearance at the Paris Masters, partnering Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, but the pair bowed out in the opening round earlier this week.
In an emotional note titled “A Goodbye… But Not The End,” Bopanna announced he was “officially hanging up his racquet,” reflecting on a brilliant journey that took him from Coorg to the grandest stages of world tennis.
“Rohan, I’ve always believed that sport reveals character. Yours showed in every serve, every smile, every comeback. You proved that belief can outlast time. Wishing you many more winning moments off the court, too. ❤️🎾,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Bopanna concluded his India career after the 2024 Paris Olympics, having earlier retired from Davis Cup in 2023 after his final tie against Morocco in Lucknow.
“You will be missed, brother! Thanks for the memories….,” six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker tweeted.
Bopanna, who enjoyed a 22-year career, described tennis as more than just a sport, a source of “purpose, strength, and belief” through life’s toughest moments.

Bopanna paid tribute to his family as well, crediting them for their support throughout his career.
Bopanna thanked his parents for their sacrifices, his sister Rashmi for her constant encouragement and his wife Supriya for being his “greatest partner off court.”.
Bopanna dedicated a heartfelt note to his daughter, Tridha, saying that she gave him “new purpose and a softer strength.”
