Star Indian opening batter Pratika Rawal, who was ruled out of the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on Monday (October 27) due to an injury suffered during the India-Bangladesh match in Navi Mumbai on Sunday (October 26), was not included in the list of nine players who are nominated to win the Player Of The Tournament award in the ongoing tournament. The list includes two Indians, but Pratika, who is the second-highest run-getter (308) in the ongoing eight-team tournament, was left out.

The list included four players from Australia, two each from India and South Africa and one from England.

Smriti Mandhana, who is the highest run-getter (365) in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, and all-rounder Deepti Sharma (133 runs and 15 wickets) are the Indian players nominated to win the Player of the Tournament award, whereas former captain Heather Knight is the only representative from England. Knight has played all seven matches in the ongoing tournament for the four-time champions and has amassed a total of 288 runs.

She scored 109 runs for the Nat Sciver-Brunt-led side in the match against India at Holkar Stadium in Indore on October 19.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt, who is third in the list of batters with the most runs (301) in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, and all-rounder Nadine de Klerk (179 runs and 7 wickets) are two players from South Africa who are in the race for the top prize.

De Klerk has impressed with her performances in this year’s tournament as a lower middle-order batter. She scored an unbeaten half-century (84*) against India to seal a memorable win for her side, and then in the matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan as well, she impressed with her batting performances.

As far as the four Australian players are concerned, the nominees are captain Alyssa Healy, all-rounders Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland and spinner Alana King. Healy is Australia’s highest run-getter in this year’s tournament despite missing two matches and not getting a chance in one more fixture (against Sri Lanka, which was a washout), whereas Gardner has scored 265 runs with the help of two centuries as a No. 6 batter in addition to taking seven wickets.

Sutherland, who remained unbeaten on 98 against England on October 22 in Indore, is the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament (15 wickets), and King has dismissed 13 batters so far. In Australia’s last league match against South Africa on October 25, she dismissed 7 opposition batters, and against Pakistan in Colombo, she made an unbeaten 51 as a No. 10 batter.
