Bank Holiday In October 2025: Banks across India will observe several public and regional holidays this week amid Chath festival and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday under the RBI holiday calendar. These holidays are not uniform nationwide and vary from state to state. That means on some dates, banks in certain states will remain closed, while in others, they will function normally.

During bank holidays, customers can continue to access services through net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, cheque clearing and other over-the-counter services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be available.

Are Banks Closed on October 27 and October 28 For Chath Puja?

Banks in several states, including Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal will remain closed on Monday, October 27, 2025 for Chath Puja (Evening Puja).

Banks in Bihar and Jharkhand will remain closed the next day, October 28 as well for Chath Puja (Morning Puja).

October 31, 2025 (Friday) – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday

Banks will be closed only in Gujarat on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2025.

On the occasion of Kannada Rajyothsava/Igas-Bagwal, banks will be closed In Bengaluru and Dehradun.

On the occasion of Kannada Rajyothsava/Igas-Bagwal, banks will be closed In Bengaluru and Dehradun.

Are Banks Open On Saturday, November 01, 2025?

Since it is the first Saturday of the month, banks in other cities will operate as usual. However, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru and Dehradun for Kannada Rajyotsava and Igas-Bagwal, respectively.

According to the RBI calendar, banks are generally closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, and on all Sundays. Therefore, banks will be closed on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Timings Of Banks In India

Banking hours may vary in different states, but most banks in India, including State Bank Of India (SBI), Bank of India, and Punjab National Bank, operate between 10 am and 4 pm.

Banks like Axis, ICICI, HDFC, Yes Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank function from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm or 3:30 pm, depending on the branch. Bank of Baroda, on the other hand, has slightly extended hours, working between 9:45 am and 4:45 pm or 10 am to 5 pm, and Canara Bank typically operates from 10 am to 3:30 pm.
