Dr. Amit Bangia, Associate Director, Dermatology, Asian Hospital, Faridabad, emphasises the importance of a traditional scalp massage in your post-festive routine. “A warm oil massage with coconut, argan, or almond oil increases blood flow, clears follicle blockages, and restores moisture,” he says.

He suggests leaving the oil on for at least an hour before washing. “It not only relaxes your scalp but also enhances nutrient absorption and reduces breakage,” adds Dr. Bangia. For those preferring natural alternatives, he recommends an apple cider vinegar rinse once a week to balance scalp pH and add instant shine.

Go Easy On Heat And Chemicals

After days of styling and exposure to serums, sprays, and tools, your strands need a break. “Steer clear of heat-styling tools for at least a week. Excess heat weakens the keratin structure and strips away natural oils, leading to frizz and breakage,” advises Dr. Priya Puja, Dermatologist and Regional Medical Head (North & East) at Kaya Limited.

She also cautions against harsh shampoos and chemical spas. “Avoid treatments with heavy silicones, sulfates, or strong serums that dehydrate the scalp. Opt instead for mild, sulfate-free cleansers that detox gently,” she says.
