Flights departing from T2 will carry flight numbers beginning with ‘AI1XXX’, such as AI1234 or AI1756, according to the airline’s website. The change coincides with the start of Air India’s Northern Winter Schedule commencing on October 26, which will see a substantial increase in domestic and short-haul international services.

Among the key international additions, flights between Delhi and Kuala Lumpur will increase from seven to ten per week from 15 November, while Delhi–Denpasar (Bali) services will rise from seven to ten weekly flights starting 1 December.
Domestically, Air India is strengthening its presence in Rajasthan with more frequent flights linking Delhi to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Udaipur. The airline will operate three daily flights to Jaipur, two to Jaisalmer, and three to Udaipur. Mumbai will also see additional services to Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur ahead of the busy tourist season.
Further expansions will enhance connectivity across Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The Delhi–Indore route will increase to four daily flights, while Delhi–Bhopal and Mumbai–Indore will each gain one extra frequency. Services between Mumbai–Bhuj and Delhi–Rajkot will double.
Additional capacity will also be added on routes linking Varanasi, Raipur, Port Blair, Aurangabad, Guwahati, Nagpur, Dehradun, Patna, and Amritsar, bolstering Air India’s domestic network in time for the winter travel surge.
The airline also provided an update on its fleet modernisation programme, launched in September 2024.
“Air India’s retrofit programme for its legacy Airbus A320neo aircraft, launched in September 2024, is nearing completion this month. Of the 27 legacy A320neo aircraft, 26 have been retrofitted with brand-new cabin interiors featuring three classes: Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Combined with other modern single-aisle aircraft, Air India now operates over 100 A320 Family aircraft with world-class cabin interiors, delivering a significantly enhanced travel experience on more than 80 domestic and short-haul international routes,” the airline said.
