MS Dhoni’s daughter, Ziva, revealed that she wants to be a naturalist when she grows up in a conversation with a politician from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Friday. Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi, and Ziva were reportedly in the holy city over the weekend to take the blessings of the Goddess of the River Ganga.
Several videos of their visits are going viral on social media. In one, uploaded by the secretary of the Ganga Sabha, Tanmay Vashishtha, Sakshi and Ziva are seen in a conversation with the activist. He asked her about her career ambition and praised the choice as ‘very unique’ for a 10-year-old.
Behind her, Sakshi chimed in by saying, ‘I hope she becomes one. ‘ Watch the wholesome video here:
Naturalists are those who work with naturally occurring life, like plants and animals, usually as on-field biologists. The Dhoni family has often seemed quite close to nature from their social media activity, and this just looks like a by-product of that.
Another video, from near the Har ki Pauri area of the city, showed Sakshi and others distributing food to the locals, amid heightened security arrangements. Watch it here:
MS Dhoni’s Uttarakhand connection
MS Dhoni’s ancestral roots trace to Lwali (also spelled Lawali) village in the Lamgara block of Almora district, Uttarakhand, from where his father Pan Singh migrated in the 1970s to Ranchi for work.
In 2010, Dhoni was appointed brand ambassador of the Uttarakhand Tiger Conservation Mission and made an honorary wildlife warden of Corbett National Park, underscoring his link with the state. In November 2023, he and his wife visited Lwali, sought blessings from elders, and participated in a puja, which went viral and highlighted his enduring bond with his Pahari heritage.
Dhoni, retired from all formats except the IPL, has kept the suspense on about his prospects of returning to the field for Chennai Super Kings next year. All ten franchises need to submit their final retained players list by mid-November, which should give us more clarity.
