TTD warns against making reels at Tirumala Temple; pushes ahead with expansion of premises

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), custodian of the sacred Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, has issued a stern warning to devotees and visitors against filming social media reels within the temple premises. The advisory follows a rise in videos featuring indecent or disruptive behaviour filmed near the sanctum of the revered shrine.

In an official press release issued on July 31, the TTD noted, “Some people have recently been filming videos (reels) performing mischievous acts in front of the Tirumala Temple and uploading them on social media.” The temple administration stated that such activities disturb the spiritual atmosphere and offend the sentiments of devotees.

Reiterating its commitment to maintaining sanctity of the temple, the TTD said that its security teams would initiate strict legal action against individuals filming or circulating objectionable content from within the temple complex. The temple board appealed to all pilgrims to uphold the spiritual environment and cooperate in maintaining discpline at the sacred shrine.

Meanwhile, the TTD continues its religious and developmental activities. On Friday, the Dhwajasthambha (flagstaff) at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Tarigonda, located in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamaiah district, was renovated in accordance with Agama traditions. Rituals performed during the ceremony included Suprabhata Seva, Abhishekam, Homam, Prana Pratishta, Maha Purnahuti, and the Dhwajasthambha restoration.

The event was overseen by TTD Agama Advisor Sri Kanduri Srinivasacharyulu and attended by temple officials and priests, including Kankana Bhattar Sri K. Dhanush Bhattar and Special Grade Deputy EO Smt. Varalakshmi.

In another development, TTD chairman BR Naidu met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to discuss the construction of a new Srivari temple in the city. Naidu requested the allotment of five acres of land for the project. The Assam CM responded positively, assuring full support and expressing his appreciation to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the TTD Trust Board for initiating the temple’s expansion.

The Chief Minister highlighted the cultural importance of the Kamakhya Devi temple in Assam and expressed hope that the new Srivari temple would foster spiritual and cultural unity across Northeast India.
