Spotify Android app is crashing and freezing

Spotify users have been facing issues on Android for the past few days and it seems the complaints have been heard by the platform. Many users have mentioned about the app freezing and crashing in some cases but most of them seem to be running on a Wi-Fi network.

That’s not all, the overall performance of the Spotify app on Android has been riddled with issues, which has left most users feeling the app is unstable. Thankfully, Spotify has admitted there are issues with the Android app and we hope that the fix should be rolling out soon.

Spotify Issues With Android App: What It Said

Spotify has received the reports and mentioned the particular case with the app running on Wi-Fi network and does not happen when being used on mobile data. ““We’ve received reports from Android users (mainly Samsung and Google Pixel) experiencing issues where the Spotify app becomes unresponsive, freezes, or crashes when connected to certain WiFi networks. The issue doesn’t occur while using mobile data,” the company has issued the statement in its forum.

Spotify says it is looking into the issue which means a fix should be offered soon but there is no indication of a timeline for that to happen yet.

Going deeper into the Spotify issue suggests people using a Samsung or Pixel phone are the biggest casualty while other brands not mentioned by the company in its post. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this issue and when the company plans to roll out an update to fix the Wi-Fi related issue for Android users.

Meanwhile, the music streaming app is slowly mimicking social media platforms with some of its recent updates. It lets you send direct messages with friends and other people, and share music or podcasts with them.

The important thing about the new update is that Spotify is allowing both free and premium users to try out the feature, which basically means all the Spotify users have access to sending DMs. This new update is Spotify’s way of saying, why use other apps to share content, do it from ours.
