Apple has acted strongly against these two apps, here’s why
Apple is working on new products but equally focused on keeping the App Store safe. The company has removed two dating apps recently that had a seriously bad record and the user complaints were equally worse. The apps called Tea and TeaOnHer have been removed earlier this week from the App Store for iPhone users globally. Usually the company removes apps for serious issues or any possible legal takedown order from the government.
But this episode of app removal is linked to the safety of the users and their data. These two apps got a lot of hype for the supposed anonymous feedback feature that people could post for the people they met through the platform.
But Apple is serious about user privacy and the overall experience for its users, which meant that Tea and TeaOnHer had to be taken off for other users to install and use the app.
Dating Apps Taken Down: Apple Tells Why
Apple is very strict with the app store regulations and these two apps were found guilty of breaching multiple rules that the company expects developers to comply with. The company shared the details with TechCrunch that highlights the actual reasons for removing these apps.
The report says Apple found the apps breach terms like moderation, user privacy and overall compliance. The company seems to have found these breaches big enough to completely remove it for users.
Apple also has mentioned issues like details of minor users being posted, which strictly goes against all the regulations in the US.
Getting negative reviews for apps is already a big red flag but Apple being forced to take them without anybody’s push will surely become a concern and a lesson for other apps that try to break its rules. Interestingly, both the dating apps are available on the Play Store for Android users, so Apple clearly has found something mischievous to act on its own.

The developers of the dating apps have also voiced their concern and disappointment about Apple’s actions and claims to have reached out to the company, made sure all the safety checks were in place, and still saw both its apps gone from the App Store.
