Apple’s M5 launch in 2025 was not expected but the company might be planning at least one model for this year

Apple M5 MacBook Pro model could launch this year after all
Apple MacBook Pro M5 launch plans have been getting mixed signals, where some say it will be coming this year, while others suggest nothing before 2026. But a new report is giving us more hints about the M5 MacBook Pro getting a launch timeline this year, in fact, this month itself.
Yes, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg cites the ongoing delivery timelines of the iPad Pro M4 and the base MacBook Pro M4 variants, which most likely focuses on bigger things to come.
MacBook Pro M5 Launch In 2025? It Could Happen
Gurman says that longer delivery timelines for the iPad Pro and MacBook Pros can’t be a co-incidence, especially in October, when Apple usually brings the new non-iPhone products to the market. The new details contradict what the publication said last month, claiming Apple is going to start mass production of the MacBook Pro models for early 2026 launch.
The new update claims the M5 base MacBook Pro could be part of the October 2025 lineup which is likely to have the new iPad Pro M5 model, along with devices like the AirTag 2 and other smart home devices hopefully.
Not Done Yet
The 2025 launch is expected to have the single 14-inch variant, and the others could be lining up in early 2026 during the spring launch event.
Which is when Apple is likely to bring the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro model with M5, M5 Pro and the M5 Max processor variants. The design changes are unlikely to have people excited and it is mostly going to be a hardware upgrade for improved performance. We could also have the first budget MacBook version launching around the same time. While the OLED version of MacBook Pro is not expected before late 2026 or early 2027.
Going by all the new details, the M5 processor could still be announced this year but we could see it running on the new iPad Pro model along with some Apple smart home devices like the HomePod Mini, Apple TV or even the AirTag 2 version.
