Fans continue to line up the streets to catch a glimpse of India cricketers in Australia. The Shubman Gill-led squad is in the country for a three-match ODI series which got underway last Sunday, with Australia winning a rain-affected match by seven wickets.
India are slated to play eight white-ball matches on the tour that includes five T20Is too. However, the focus is on ODIs since two of India’s finest batters, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are making their international return with the series, having been away from action for several months now. Both have retired from Tests and T20Is but continue to remain available for the ODIs.
Given Rohit and Kohli’s popularity and the likely prospect of this being their last Australia tour as India players, fans have been showing up at the airports in hopes of getting their autographs and clicking selfies.
The tourists have reached Adelaide for the second ODI and, expectedly, were greeted by a bunch of enthusiastic fans.
In a clip shared by Star Sports, a fan can be heard declaring his admiration for ex-captain Rohit as he was seated in the team bus.
“Rohit sir, you are in my heart. I can die for you,” says the fan. It’s unclear whether the 38-year-old heard the message but immediately afterwards, he could be seen smiling.
Meanwhile, Kohli obliged his fans with autographs before boarding the team bus at the Adelaide airport.
As for the on-field action, Perth ODI wasn’t a happy affair for Rohit and Kohli as they failed to get going in testing conditions. Rohit, opening the innings, scored a boundary before being dismissed cheaply for 8. Kohli struggled during his brief stay and failed to open his account, registering an eight-ball duck.
India and Australia will square off on Thursday with the series on the line.
