Cricket fans in Australia are just going crazy over the arrival of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the duo is set to make their much-awaited comeback to competitive cricket. The 3-match ODI series opener in Perth on Sunday will be their first international game together since winning the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. And as they gear up to face Australia, their videos and pictures have taken over social media.
One such picture has gone viral in which he can be seen signing a Pakistan cricket team jersey. However, the reality is entirely different from what has been garnering attention on social media.
As reported by the Times of India, the image has been digitally manipulated. The original video shows Kohli walking up to a fan holding a Royal Challengers Bengaluru jersey, which he signs before moving on to autograph a few more of the same. The viral image, however, has replaced the RCB jersey with Pakistan’s white-ball kit, creating a misleading impression that has since caught fire online.
The Indian cricket team has kicked off its preparations in Perth ahead of the upcoming limited-overs tour of Australia, which features three ODIs and five T20Is starting Sunday. Senior players — former captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul — were all seen in the nets, marking their return to international cricket for the first time since the 2025 Champions Trophy final against Australia. Kohli, in particular, looked in fine touch, timing the ball sweetly throughout his session.
Fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana also went through their drills as the team geared up for the white-ball leg. The Indian contingent left Delhi for Australia on Wednesday morning, with Kohli and Rohit joining the squad in the capital a day earlier. The three-match ODI series begins at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Sunday, followed by games on October 23 and 25. The five-match T20I series will run from October 29 to November 8.
