Navratri 2025 Day 7 Goddess, Colour: Navratri, one of the most widely celebrated Hindu festivals in India, is dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, known as Navadurga. During Navratri, specific forms of goddess Durga are worshipped on each day.

The nine-day festival will be celebrated from September 22 to October 2 this year.

On the seventh day, known as Maha Saptami, devotees worship Goddess Kalaratri, one of the fiercest forms of Goddess Parvati. This day is marked by prayers, special offerings and wearing a specific colour to seek the blessing of the deity.

Goddess Kalaratri is revered as the embodiment of courage and power. Her dark complexion and fierce appearance represent the destruction of evil and the removal of darkness from the world. She is also known as the protector and the destroyer of evil forces.

Navratri 2025 Day 7: Who is Goddess Kalaratri? Significance and Vrat Katha

According to Hindu mythology, when demons Shumbha and Nishumbha overpowered the gods with the help of Chanda, Munda, and Raktabeej, the gods prayed to Devi Shakti for help. While Goddess Chandi defeated some demons, Goddess Kalaratri was created from Parvati’s forehead to destroy the remaining ones. She killed Chanda and Munda and drank Raktabeej’s blood, preventing him from creating clones, ultimately defeating him.

She is depicted riding a donkey, with four hands, two in Abhaya and Varada Mudra, symbolising protection and blessings, while the other two carry a sword and an iron hook to defeat demons.

Her name comes from “Kala,” meaning death, and “Ratri,” meaning darkness, symbolising the end of darkness. Devotees worship her to remove fear, negativity and obstacles from their lives. It’s believed that Devi Kalaratri blesses her devotees with courage, spiritual knowledge and prosperity, while eliminating evil forces.

Navratri 2025 Day 7: Auspicious Colour of The Day

The Navratri colour for Day 7 is orange, as per Drik Panchang. The colour represents courage, warmth, exuberance and positive energy. Wearing this colour while offering prayers is believed to help devotees channel the divine energy of Maa Kalaratri and stand out in life with confidence and clarity.

Navratri 2025 Day 7: Bhog

On this day, devotees offer jaggery (gur) or sweet dishes prepared from it to Goddess Kalaratri. The offering is believed to bring positivity, strength and protection to the devotee’s life.

Through prayers, rituals and offerings on Day 7, devotees honour Goddess Kalaratri and seek her blessings to overcome fear, darkness, and challenges in their lives. Many devotees also observe a day-long fast to please the goddess.
