Facebook wants people to use AI to help them find dates. So, the platform is getting a new assistant powered by Meta AI that promises to find you the best match. Meta is doing this to help people avoid what it calls, “swipe fatigue” something that you do to find the right person on dating apps.

The AI assistant will help you narrow down the matches and also give you the most relevant to your searches. AI tools are no strangers on dating apps but Facebook is bringing it for its users in the US and Canada for now.

Dating Help From AI: How It Works

Like most AI assistants out there, Facebook Dating is using AI to help you explain the kind of man/woman you are seeking on the platform. It goes beyond the usual search metrics like height, or education and gives you the power to enter prompts for the AI to study and give you the most relevant results. Dating Assistant will be available in the Matches tab for the users in the mentioned regions.

Meta AI has been its go-to platform which is now available across apps like WhatsApp, which also is owned by the Facebook parent company. Limiting the use of AI in dating to its home market suggests the platform doesn’t see a lot of traction in other regions like India.

Surprise Me

With the addition of the AI assistant, Meta is also easing the process of finding matches. For this you have the Meet Cute feature that tackles all your effort and uses algorithms to give you surprise matches. These matches will be offered weekly to start off and you can opt-out of the feature if not interested.

Facebook Dating hasn’t made a lot of dent in the market and much like its overall user base, most people resort to other apps like Tinder, Hinge and OkCupid among others who also have different AI features available but not for free.
