Gemini AI Plus plan rivals ChatGPT Go but still not available in India
Google’s Gemini AI Plus affordable version plan is now coming to over 40 countries, the company has announced. The new Gemini tier goes up against the ChatGPT Go plan that was introduced in India recently to tap more users into the paid AI universe.
The company has added 40 new regions to the list for AI Plus which now includes Egypt, Kenya, Indonesia, Senegal, Vietnam, Uganda and Zimbabwe among others.
However, Google, which has usually focused on India with affordable plans and features, has yet to add India to its roster for the Gemini AI Plus plan. Gemini AI Plus is the affordable way to access Google’s new AI tools and popular products that pair nicely with the new features for better applications.
Gemini AI Plus Expansion Continues, India Still Missing
Gemini AI Plus, the ChatGPT Go alternative made its debut in Indonesia priced at IDR 37,500 (Rs 200 approx.) for a limited period after which the plan will cost IDR 75,000 per month (Rs 400 approx.). Google lets you access the latest Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Research on 2.5 Pro model.
You also get other benefits like Limited access to Veo 3 for video generation, 200 monthly AI credits, access Flow AI filmmaking tool, Notebook LLM, Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids and more apps and 200 GB One storage for Photos, Drive and Gmail
Google generally sees India as a top market and its Gemini growth has been fueled by products like Nano Banana that have been popular in India with localised trends and styles. It is hard to explain the absence of India on the Gemini AI Plus availability list but Google could be eyeing local partners to make the plan available at a cheaper cost or even for free.
Airtel has tied up with Perplexity to offer its Pro plan for free in the country, who can also access the Comet AI web browser.
Whereas, ChatGPT has tapped into the budget pool with the Go version. But out of all these, Google has a bandwidth to make Gemini AI Plus available for free, something it has already done with the Gemini Pro for the students in the country. We are hoping to hear more about the Gemini AI Plus for India and when it will be available for millions of users.
