Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s son Tegnarayan is set to embark on his biggest test, as he joins the West Indies team for their upcoming tour of India. This tour, starting on October 2, marks a significant moment for Tegnarayan, who aims to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, an unsung hero of Test cricket history, began his career in 1994 and remained a cornerstone of the West Indies team until 2015.

The left-handed batsman boasts centuries against all Test-playing nations except Zimbabwe, with seven of his 30 Test centuries scored against India. Now, his son Tegnarayan, also a left-handed batsman, is ready to continue this legacy.

Tegnarayan made his Test debut in 2022, playing two matches during Team India’s tour of the West Indies. Although he managed innings of 7, 12, 33, and 24, this tour to India has the potential to be a turning point in his career. Strong performances could secure his place in the team and bring pride to his father.

West Indies Squad Announced

The West Indies squad for the upcoming Test series against India has been announced, with Roston Chase appointed as captain and Jomel Warrican as vice-captain. The 15-member squad includes Roston Chase (Captain), Jomel Warrican (Vice-Captain), Alick Athanaze, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, John Campbell, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (Wicketkeeper), Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamarh Brooks, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Khary Pierre and Jayden Seales.

Test Series Schedule

The two-Test series will commence in Ahmedabad from October 2 to 6, followed by the second Test in New Delhi from October 10 to 14. This marks West Indies’ first overseas tour of the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
