TikTok US availability has been extended by the US President Donald Trump and we could finally see the platform get a localised launch in the region very soon. Both Trump and Xi Jinping are expected to meet on Friday to finalise the terms which allows TikTok to retain its original traits but the data privacy is handled in the US.

According to Reuters, both China and the US government have agreed on the framework which gives TikTok control to a US-based owner. It is intriguing to see the TikTok deal stretch for this long and also shows how both parties are interested in getting amicable terms that work for both of them.

TikTok September Deadline Close, Deal Must Go Through

TikTok was given a 90 day extension by US President Trump which ends on September 17, 2025 and which is why this special deal between US and China is imperative to keep things moving. The government has been worried about TikTok and its alleged data sharing policies with China. TikTok is widely popular in the US, which means people can inadvertently share their data through the servers and the government will have no jurisdiction for possible mishaps.

There is a strong chance that after the Trump-Xi meeting this week, the government could extend the deadline, giving them the time to finalise the TikTok operations deal within its corners. The Reuters piece suggests Trump credits TikTok for helping him win the recent Presidential elections, which shows his interest in keeping the platform on board in the country.

The report also talks about both US and China wanting their side of the deal covered, which includes giving local ownership of the platform and the data residing in the US, while China gets to keep the characteristics that made TikTok such a big phenomenon in the first place. We’ll be getting more details around the imminent TikTok US deal that keeps the short video app running and going high.

TikTok India Ban Not Ending

TikTok ban in India has been ongoing since 2020 but a recent rumour hinted the platform coming back to the country. But the Indian government shared its own views and confirmed that no such plans have been discussed to relaunch TikTok in the country.
