iPhone 17 has got some useful upgrades for nominal price hike this year but how does it compare with the Pixel 10 and the Galaxy S25?

Apple surprised everyone making some serious upgrades on the base iPhone 17 model this year which means the competition with the Pixels and Galaxy’s have gotten tougher. Most people were eager to see the iPhone Air and the 17 Pro models but Apple managed to upstage all of them with its regular iPhone 17 model that gets a nominal price hike in India with these changes.
The iPhone 17 goes up against the new Pixel 10 and the Galaxy S25 model from Samsung that came out in January this year. We have usually sidelined the base iPhone model in the last few years but this time it is different and it gets our attention.

Apple iPhone 17 prices have gone up in India, now starting at Rs 82,900 but for the base 256GB variant this year. Pixel 10 also starts with the 256GB storage but at the same Rs 79,999 price tag. Samsung Galaxy S25 is the cheapest of the lot, starting at Rs 74,900 but for the 128GB variant.

iPhone 17 gets a glass body at the back along with an aluminium frame. It measures at 8mm in thickness and weighs 177 grams. Pixel 10 also comes with a glass back that gets Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and aluminium finish for the frame. It is slightly thicker at 8.6mm and weighs much more than the iPhone 17 at 204 grams. Samsung’s flagship is the lightest at 162 grams, carrying a 7.2mm sleek body, with a glass back panel and aluminium frame.
The iPhone 17 has been upgraded to a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display but with ProMotion 120Hz support for the first time. This means you get an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on what is open on the screen. The Pixel 10 sports a 6.3-inch OLED display but with standard 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness like the iPhone 17. Samsung goes with a smaller 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz LTPO panel which gets Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

iPhone 17 is powered by the new A19 chipset with 8GB RAM up to 512GB as the storage options. You get it with the iOS 26 version that will be releasing later this month and upgradeable for the next 6 iOS versions at least. Pixel 10 uses the new Tensor G5 chipset with 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage option. It comes with Android 16 out of the box with the new Material UI and promises to get 7 OS upgrades.
Samsung is powering its S25 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. It runs the One UI 8 version based on Android 16 and will be offered 7 OS upgrades as well.

iPhone 17 gets a dual rear camera setup which has a 48MP main sensor with OIS along with a 48MP ultra wide lens with OIS. The front of the model gets a new 18MP shooter.
Pixel 10 now has three cameras at the back, a 48MP main sensor with OIS, a 10.8MP telephoto lens with OIS and a 13MP ultra wide lens. The front still has the same 10.5MP selfie camera.
Samsung also gives you a triple camera system that has a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with OIS and a 12MP ultra wide lens. The 12MP shooter on the front is for selfies.

iPhone 17 is claimed to pack a 3,692mAh battery with support for 30W wired, 25W MagSafe wireless, 25W Qi2 wireless and 4.5W reverse wired charging speeds. Pixel 10 carries a bigger 4,970mAh battery with 30W wired, 15W Qi2 wireless and reverse charging support.
Samsung base flagship has a 4,000mAh battery with 25W wired, 15W Qi2 wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging speeds.
