Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 opened on a positive note on Wednesday, tracking firm global cues

Sensex Today: Indian equities opened on a firm note Wednesday as investors tracked fresh commentary from US President Donald Trump on India-US trade ties.
The BSE Sensex advanced 358 points, or 0.44%, to 81,460, while the NSE Nifty50 climbed 108 points, or 0.43%, to 24,977.
TCS, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, BEL, L&T, Infosys, Kotak Bank, and Adani Ports led the gains on the Sensex, each rising over 1%.
Earlier, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US and India would resume negotiations to resolve “trade barriers” and said he looked forward to speaking with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a separate post, he urged the European Union (EU) to impose tariffs of up to 100% on India and China to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap index added 0.85% and the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.77%. Sectorally, Nifty IT was the top gainer, rising 1.12%, followed by Nifty Realty (up 0.9%) and Nifty PSU Bank (up 0.7%).
Global Cues
Asian markets opened on a stronger note as investors awaited China’s August consumer price index (CPI) and producer price index (PPI) data. The CSI 300 in mainland China rose 0.27%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.39%, Japan’s Nikkei advanced 0.21%, while South Korea’s KOSPI jumped 1.3%.
On Wall Street, all three major US indices closed at record highs on optimism that the US Federal Reserve will cut interest rates at its meeting next week. The Dow Jones climbed 0.43%, the S&P 500 gained 0.27%, and the Nasdaq advanced 0.37%.
Meanwhile, investors in the US are awaiting the release of August PPI data later in the day, which could provide further clues on the Fed’s rate-cut path.
