WhatsApp web on browser is having issues with scrolling

WhatsApp web is used by millions and on Tuesday they are facing issues with scrolling through their chat feed. The web version links to the mobile app via the Linked Devices feature and works independently these days. It has become a useful tool for many, as they can continue their work and have WhatsApp running in the background to avoid missing out on important messages.

But the platform’s web version is now facing the scrolling bug which means you are not able to seamlessly scroll up and down the feed.

WhatsApp Web Scroll Issue: Users Not Happy

WhatsApp users have been facing one issue after another in recent weeks. The messaging app faced an outage for a few hours and now this. Scrolling is a big part of the desktop experience and not able to use it on WhatsApp web is definitely not ideal.

We independently checked for the issue and found the scroll of the mouse not responding to the platform’s actions. It was working for other websites, which clearly shows the scroll issue is limited to the WhatsApp web version. The social media users have also acknowledged the problem with the messaging app:

Some of these users claim the scroll bug is linked to the WhatsApp emoji and stickers. Meta is yet to officially confirm or admit the issue and we are hoping the platform fixes the issue at the earliest.

Having said that, we did notice that refreshing the WhatsApp web tab on the web browser fixes the issue for a few minutes and then the scrolling stops again. This clearly looks like a bug that has come through with one of the recent WhatsApp updates for the web version.

The messaging app lets you share Status Updates that is like Stories and Snap, and soon the updates can be shared with select friends and contacts on the app.

You click/tap on the profile ring of any WhatsApp contact and see their latest updates, which could be a still image or a video with a caption. WhatsApp wants to personalise Updates for its users, and that could happen in the next few months.
