India ODI captain Rohit Sharma was spotted at a hospital late Monday night in Mumbai sparking concerns. While there’s no information on the reason behind his visit, fans have been praying for his good health.
Rohit can be seen quietly making his way into the facility even as paparazzi kept firing queries at his direction.
The 38-year-old has been sweating it out in Mumbai under the guidance of former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. He recently underwent a fitness test at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru along with other India cricketers.
While an India T20I squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, has landed in UAE to gear up for the Asia Cup 2025 that starts from today, Rohit will have to wait for a while before donning the India colours again.
Having retired from both Tests and T20Is, Rohit has since transitioned to a one-format player and could make his international return during India’s white-ball tour of Australia in October-November.
Rohit is expected to captain India during the three-match ODI series Down Under.
However, there are reports that he may turn out for India A during a three-match one-day series with Australia A in September-October. The matches are slated to be held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 30 to October 5.
Rohit’s last appearance for India was the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy where he won player-of-the-match award for 76 off 83 to help India chase down 252 in Dubai as they became the champions.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif indicates that the India squad for Asia Cup is short of one allrounder as he cited their T20 World Cup winning squad under Rohit Sharma that had the likes of Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.
“Rohit’s team won the T20 World Cup with 3 all-rounders – Axar, Jadeja, Hardik – and that meant 6 proper bowling options and batting till 8. At Asia Cup, with only 2 genuine allrounders – Hardik and Axar, India will have to find a new winning combination. Washington Sundar will be missed,” Kaif wrote on X.
