The Indian men’s cricket team will begin their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025 on Wednesday, September 10, with a match against hosts United Arab Emirates. The Indian team, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, will look to come up with a big show against Mohammad Waseem & Co. to get their campaign off to a memorable start. In this year’s Asia Cup, the matches of which are set to be played in the T20I format, as many as 10 Indian players will make their debut in the Asia Cup T20Is, and there will be high expectations from the likes of world No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma, world No. 2 T20I batter Tilak Varma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav.

While Abhishek, Samson and Chakaravarthy are set to make their debut in the Asia Cup this year, the likes of Gill, Kuldeep and Tilak have played in the ODI format in the past.

Only five players from India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad have played in the T20I format of the Asia Cup before. Here’s a look at how they have performed in those fixtures.

Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar played all five matches of the Asia Cup in 2022 and scored 139 runs. He made 18 runs against Pakistan in the first match and then remained unbeaten on 68 runs from just 26 balls against Hong Kong. In the three matches of Super Fours, he registered scores of 13, 34 and 6 runs against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, respectively.

Hardik Pandya: Hardik Pandya has featured in eight T20I matches of the Asia Cup for Team India and scored 83 runs in addition to dismissing 11 batters. The 31-year-old all-rounder from Baroda is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the T20I format of the Asia Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah played all five matches of the 2016 edition of the Asia Cup and dismissed six batters. He missed the 2022 edition due to a back injury.

Arshdeep Singh: Arshdeep Singh, who is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, played five matches in the Asia Cup 2022 for the Men in Blue and picked up five wickets. In his first-ever Asia Cup match, which was played against Pakistan in Dubai on August 28, 2022, he registered his best bowling figures of 2 for 33 in 3.5 overs.

Axar Patel: Axar Patel played one match for India (vs Afghanistan) in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, and in that fixture, he didn’t get a chance to bat. He did bowl four overs and conceded 24 runs but was not able to take any wickets.
