iPhone 17 price in India could see a sudden jump this year which can be attributed to the overall value of the currency.

The iPhone 17 price in India could be higher than last year
iPhone 17 launch price in India could surprise and not in a good way, going by reports making the news in recent days. The new iPhone 17 series is likely to have four models, with the Plus variant replaced by the Air moniker. But all eyes will and ears will be eager to see how Apple plans to price the new iPhone 17 models in India.
The new report quoted an industry analyst who claims the pressure of higher currency value could force the company to hike the price of the base iPhone 17 model.
iPhone 17 India Price Dilemma: Will The Hike Happen?
The report from Moneycontrol suggests the iPhone 17 launch price in India could start around Rs 86,000 because of the currency value jumps. Apple has usually gone with 1$ equal to Rs 100 for its pricing strategy in India, which means the current Rs 87 to a dollar value pushes the Rs 79,900 further up the ladder.
Other major analysts like JP Morgan have also estimated their iPhone 17 launch price models. Most of them have hinted at a $50 price hike for the base iPhone 17 while the 17 Air and the 17 Pro could see a significant bump of around $100 for the buyers.
The price hike for iPhone 17 was mostly attributed to the US President Trump tariff demands as well as the hardware upgrades on the table. The rumours will continue to keep people engaged but Apple will clarify all these reports once it unveils the products and shares other details on September 9 in California.
Earlier this month, the Indian government announced new GST slabs to simplify the rates based on the kind of items and goods.
But unfortunately, the government has gone with the default tax slab for the mobile sector, which means the current 18 percent GST remains, and that will not result in any reduction in price of smartphones anytime soon. So, because there is no change in the GST rates for the mobile sector, there won’t be any changes in the price of the smartphones.
