The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior men’s selection committee announced the India A squad for the two multi-day matches against Australia A.

Australia A will tour India later this year for a short red-ball series, as the tour includes two multi-day matches, both scheduled to be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The first match will take place from September 16 to 19, 2025, starting at 9:30 AM each day. After a brief break, the teams will return for the second and final match from September 23 to 26, also beginning at 9:30 AM.

What Is The India A Squad For Australia A Matches?

Squad: Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran, N Jagadeesan (WK), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (VC & WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Harsh Dubey, Ayush Badoni, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Khaleel Ahmed, Manav Suthar, Yash Thakur

BCCI also announced that KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will be added to the squad for the 2nd multi-day match and will replace two players in the squad after the 1st multi-day match.

The multi-day matches will be followed by three one-day games, scheduled to take place on September 30, 2025, October 03, 2025 and October 05, 2025 respectively in Kanpur.

Why Shreyas Iyer Was Named India A Captain?

Shreyas Iyer, who was not considered for a place in the India A squad for two red-ball matches against England Lions in May-June, is currently playing in the semifinal of the Duleep Trophy 2025 for West Zone against Central Zone in Bengaluru.

N Jagadeesan, who replaced Rishabh Pant in India’s squad for the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, scored 197 runs for South Zone in the first innings of their Duleep Trophy 2025 match against North Zone on Friday, September 5, whereas Gaikwad top-scored for West Zone by amassing a total of 184 runs against Central Zone in Bengaluru on Friday.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, the 30-year-old batter playng for bengal, who was with the Indian men’s cricket team for the tour of England did not get to make his debut. He too finds his name in the India A squad.

The bowling unit will be led by Prasidh Krishna and Khaleel Ahmed, with support from spinners Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian, and Manav Suthar. The team also features all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and leg-spinner Gurnoor Brar.
