Android security risk affecting millions of users have been alert by the country’s government after Google’s own admission.

The new security risk affects millions of Android users
The Indian government has issued a major security warning for millions of Android users in the country this week. The latest alert comes on the back of Google’s critical security bulletin that warns billions about risks posed by some of the issues facing Android versions.
The new risk alert comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) this month where it says the issues can allow attackers to gain sensitive information, and cause denial of service conditions on the targeted system.
Like the previous issues, the new security warning affects a host of manufacturers who have a big role in developing the Android phones, and any threat to them will have a direct impact on the consumers.
Android Security Issue: What It Says
The new CERT-In alert concerning Android users comes with a high-severity rating and shares the worrying details about the problems facing the platform. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, Android Runtime, System, Widevine DRM, Project Mainline components, Kernel, Arm components, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components,” the bulletin explains the details.
The names mentioned in the post consist of a major chunk of the Android ecosystem, with phones, and other components manufactured. Having the issues on kernel level of Android leaves the OEMs and the users of Android phones at major risk. Google’s alert even claims some of them might have been actively exploited.
Android Versions Affected By New Threat
Google has effectively said that all the existing Android versions are at risk because of these vulnerabilities. This means, if you have a phone running Android 13, 14, 15 or even the latest 16 version, all of them can be exploited to steal data and other personal information.
Google has looked into the issues and already delivered the security patch that all Android users should install right away. It is not just limited to the Pixel devices, and brands like Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi should have their updates available in the next few days.
You just need to update to the latest September 2025 security patch for Android by following these steps:
- Go to Settings on your phone
- Scroll down to System update
- Look for a new update
- Install and reboot the phone
- Now the Android phone is secure from the vulnerabilities
If you have not got the latest update from the companies, wait for a few more days as Google has offered them the AOSP setup to fix their versions.
