Google is finally bringing its refurbished Pixel phone program in India where you can buy used devices at a lower price than the market.
Google is letting you get a good deal on these used Pixel phones
Google has started its refurbished Pixel program in India which means people can buy some of the Pixel models that have been used, and then fixed with new parts for reselling. This also lets you buy the Pixel phones like 7 and 8 Pro for a discounted price than the original selling rate for the brand new version.
The refurbished market for phones in India has been growing in the last few years and Google clearly sees potential in offering its Pixel devices through this route, allowing more people to experience its Tensor-powered Pixel phones in the country.
Pixel Refurbished Phones: Why Now?
Google has been slow with its approach in the Indian market for the Pixel phones. The company has been in the Pixel business for over 10 years but its strategy feels like a novice brand, especially in India. Mind you, the Pixel 6 series never launched in the country, and we had to wait till Pixel 7 to see Google change its stance on India.
And only now we are seeing the brand go more active with its after-sales support, more offline stores. The decision to bring refurbished phones, with a local partner like Cashify is part of the renewed focus which is good to see.
Used Pixel Phones: Worth Buying?
Browsing through the refurbished Pixel lineup online, we noticed the Pixel 7 costs Rs 20,999 while the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs 39,999.
These prices for the original units listed online are Rs 28,999 for the Pixel 7 and over Rs 45,000 for the Pixel 8 Pro in the country. Refurbished phones are effective but most people view them as used phones, and that’s where the mindset change is critical.
Google will be hoping that its entry will help buyers see these models in different light, something that Apple has through third-party channels for the iPhones in the country. However, Cashify getting the ‘trusted by Google’ badge carries more weight and gives you the standard 1-year warranty to give the almost new-like experience.
