Bangladesh captain Litton Das struck a blistering half-century against Netherlands during their third T20I of a three-match series held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. The contest eventually was abandoned after 18.2 overs of Bangladesh innings thanks to rain.
The final contest may have proved to be a damp squib but the knock by Das helped him break the record of former Bangladesh captain and legendary allrounder Shakib Al Hasan.
Das struck 73 off 46 with the help of six fours and four sixes before being dismissed by Netherlands’ Kyle Klein at the start of the 15th over. After completing his half-century, he surpassed Shakib for the record of the most fifty-plus scores by a Bangladeshi batter in T20I history.
This was the 14th time that Das has scored fifty runs or more in Bangladesh colours when playing T20Is. In 110 T20Is, the 30-year-old has scored 1,927 runs at a strike-rate of 126.52 and has 14 fifties to his name with a personal best of 83.
On the other hand, Shakib, who retired from T20Is after the world cup last year, scored 2551 runs from 129 T20Is at a strike-rate of 121.25. He struck 13 half-centuries with a highest score of 84.

Bangladesh Win Series
The result meant Bangladesh won the series 2-0 having already recorded emphatic victories in the opening two matches held at the same venue. The hosts won the series opener by eight wickets after chasing down 137 in just 13.3 overs. Das scored an unbeaten half-century.
In a do-or-die situation, Netherlands succumbed under pressure to be skittled for 103 in the second T20I inside 18 overs. Bangladesh took an unassailable 2-0 by chasing down the small target in 13.1 overs for a 9-wicket win. Opener Tanzid Tamim scored 54 not out.
