More than 2.5 billion Gmail users were issued the warning<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Google has come strongly in defence of Gmail and its alleged hacking risks that were recently published in a report. The company feels the need to deny such threats when over 2 billion users are in question.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And now Google has shared a public statement via its blog post earlier this week which confirms that all the news about Gmail security risks are false. Hacking risks are not new but Google is clearly not comfortable with the rumours spread around the media and it has asked them to address these concerns and clarify its side of the story.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gmail Protection Is Strong<\/strong><\/p>\n

Google in its statement claims all the protections of Gmail are strong and effective. \u201cSeveral inaccurate claims surfaced recently that incorrectly stated that we issued a broad warning to all Gmail users about a major Gmail security issue. This is entirely false,” the company said in the post here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Google usually reserves its views but this public outreach felt different, especially the tone of the statement put out. \u201cSecurity is such an important item for all companies, all customers, all users \u2014 we take this work incredibly seriously. It\u2019s crucial that conversation in this space is accurate and factual,” the post adds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It all started when Trend Micro shared its own security findings<\/a> on August 26, 2025 in a post. The company even claimed that Google\u2019s database has been compromised through another cloud platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The group called ShinyHunters<\/em> has been involved in some high-profile data breaches and mentioned that Google is now warning its users about the ill-effects of letting attacks like these damage their digital footprint.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To which, the tech giant then goes on to highlight its own security measures and how it blocks most attacks coming your way. \u201cOur protections continue to block more than 99.9% of phishing and malware attempts from reaching users,” it adds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We definitely try to bring the most accurate stories and developments, especially when it comes to user privacy. But it seems Google is sure of its own systems and suggests it is high time that people switch to secure alternatives like Passkeys rather than use passwords or 2FA with mobile number. <\/span><\/p>\n
