A remark by senior Karnataka Congress MLA RV Deshpande during a public interaction has sparked outrage after he made a casual comment to a woman journalist asking about the lack of hospital facilities in the Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada.<\/p>\n

When the journalist pointed out that pregnant women in the area were struggling due to the absence of a hospital, Deshpande replied with a smile and a wink, \u201cDon\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll get yours done elsewhere.”<\/p>\n

Taken aback, the journalist sought clarification. The MLA, however, repeated the remark, saying, \u201cWhen it\u2019s time for your delivery, we will get it done.”<\/p>\n

The journalist further told Deshpande that the region urgently needed a hospital and asked him to ensure it is built during his current term. The MLA responded with a brief \u201cokay” but did not make any commitment, NDTV<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

Political Reactions Pour In<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reacting to the remark, the BJP criticised it as disrespectful and insulting.<\/p>\n

BJP spokesperson Vijay Prasad said, \u201cInsulting mothers and women is not politics, it\u2019s moral bankruptcy. (Leader of the Opposition) Rahul Gandhi talks about love and respect but his leaders spread hate. This double speak must be exposed. Congress\u2019 politics is about insult, abuse and family attacks\u2026 They speak today, deny tomorrow and repeat the next week.”<\/p>\n

The JanataDal (Secular) also shared a video of the remark and condemned the Congress leader for insulting the dignity of women, demanding an apology.<\/p>\n

In a post, the JDS wrote, \u201cTo a senior journalist who asked for a super-specialty hospital for the district, you respond with \u201cLet it be your delivery”? Is this the respect you show to women?”<\/p>\n
