Craig McMillan appointed full-time assistant coach of New Zealand women’s team ahead of World Cup (PTI)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Craig McMillan has been appointed as the full-time assistant coach for the New Zealand women\u2019s cricket team after serving in a part-time capacity for just over a year. His official tenure begins this week, and he will be working with head coach Ben Sawyer and batting coach Dean Brownlie. In a statement on Tuesday, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced that \u201cMcMillan will dedicate his time solely to the White Ferns and the female Players of Interest programme.”<\/p>\n

With this new full-time role, McMillan will step back from his commentary career and other coaching engagements. McMillan, who was part of the management team during New Zealand women\u2019s title-winning campaign in the T20 World Cup last year, expressed his enthusiasm for his new position.<\/p>\n

What Craig McMillan Said After Being Appointed New Zealand Women\u2019s Team Assistant Coach?<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m over the moon to be in this role with the White Ferns. The women\u2019s game is going from strength to strength, and I\u2019m excited to continue to work with our talented players and help them reach their goals. The last year has gone so quickly, and I\u2019ve loved every minute of being part of a team that continues to improve, challenge one another, and does special things on the world stage,” McMillan said in a statement released by NZC.<\/p>\n

He also confirmed that preparations for the ODI World Cup, scheduled later this year in India and Sri Lanka, are well underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a busy period leading into the 50-over World Cup. We\u2019ve had a number of camps, including one in Chennai, which exposed the players to Indian conditions like what they\u2019ll face in October-November. The team is pumped to get back to India and take on another World Cup,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

The Women\u2019s ODI World Cup will take place from September 30 to November 2. The New Zealand women\u2019s team will start their campaign against the defending champions, Australia, on October 1 in Indore. NZC will announce the squad for the marquee event on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
