Mohammed Siraj is leading India\u2019s bowling attack in the ongoing fifth Test against England at The Oval. The 31-year-old fast bowler bowled 16.2 overs in the first innings and picked up 4 wickets for 86 runs on Friday (August 1) to help India bowl England out for 247 runs in the first innings. The four-wicket haul on Friday helped Siraj enter his name in the record books as he became the first Indian bowler to take multiple four-fers in Tests at The Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his last Test as well at The Oval, which was played between India and Australia from June 7 to 11 in 2023, Siraj dismissed four batters in the first innings. He bowled 28.3 overs in the first innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final and picked up 4 wickets for 108 runs.<\/p>\n

Siraj opened his wicket account on Friday getting England\u2019s stand-in captain Ollie Pope out in the second session. The right-handed batter was trapped in front of the wickets for 22 runs from 44 balls. Joe Root was the next English batter who was sent back to the pavilion by Siraj. Like Pope, Root was also trapped in front of the wickets. The 34-year-old right-handed batter scored 29 runs from 45 balls.<\/p>\n

Siraj\u2019s third wicket came in form of Jacob Bethell. The left-handed batter was also trapped in front of the wickets by him. Bethell, who replaced Ben Stokes in the playing XI for The Oval Test could only manage to add six runs from 14 balls to England\u2019s total.<\/p>\n

Siraj wrapped up England\u2019s first innings by breaching Harry Brook\u2019s defence on the second ball of the 52nd over. Brook scored 53 runs from 64 balls.<\/p>\n

For India, apart from Siraj, Prasidh Krishna also picked up 4 wickets. The 29-year-old fast bowler from Karnataka bowled 16 overs and conceded 62 runs.<\/p>\n

The four-fer in the first innings of the ongoing red-ball match at The Oval helps Siraj extend his tally of wickets to 18 in the ongoing series. With 18 wickets in eight innings of five matches, Siraj is the highest wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He is followed by Ben Stokes, who dismissed 17 Indian batters in four matches.<\/p>\n
