Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have issued an apology to Cricket West Indies (CWI) for their head coach, Paul Nixon\u2019s criticism over the \u2018lack of communication\u2019 from the board over all-rounder Justin Greaves\u2019 injury picked up during the national team\u2019s series against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Englishman Nixon had publicly said the communication was disappointing and unprofessional that the team could only discover Greaves\u2019 injury just before their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match against Trinbago Knight Riders. He added that though they gave him an injection, there was not enough time to help Greaves\u2019 recovery before stressing that losing an international star due to poor handling was a tough blow for his side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very disappointed that we\u2019ve had no communication with Cricket West Indies in their backroom department for Greaves to come in to us a bit injured, more than a bit injured. So, that was disappointing. And just before the game, we found out these things,” Nixon said after his side lost by eight wickets in the game. \u201cSo, for me, that was a bit unprofessional and disrespectful, in a way. But we moved forward.”<\/p>\n

The Falcons\u2019 statement apologises on behalf of Nixon, and says that the franchise is commited to a mutualy beneficial partnership between the club and the board.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaul Nixon, head coach of the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, together with the Falcons\u2019 management, would like to provide clarification regarding recent comments made about Cricket West Indies (CWI) during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL),” the Falcons\u2019 statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to emphasize that there was no intention to offend or undermine the efforts of Cricket West Indies (CWI). Nixon totally regrets any and all remarks made. Both Paul Nixon and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons apologize for any unintended implications or offense these comments may have caused to CWI management and staff. We remain firmly committed to fostering a strong and collaborative partnership with CWI, one that is grounded in mutual respect and open, constructive dialogue to advance West Indies cricket,” the statement added.<\/p>\n
