Income Tax Filing Deadline 2025<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

ITR 2025 Deadline<\/strong>: Individual taxpayers who don\u2019t require audit must hurry up to file their income tax return (ITR) filing for FY2024-25 (Assessment year 2025-26) as only 15 days are left for the deadline, September 15, 2025. Once it\u2019s over, they need to pay a penalty and can\u2019t avail some benefits like offset of losses or carry forward.<\/p>\n

The Excel utility for ITR forms from 1 to 7 is now available. Moreover, taxpayers can choose ITR forms depending on requirements and eligibility to complete their tax duties on the income tax portal.<\/p>\n

The income tax department has extended the deadline for the ITR filing for FY2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) for 45 days to September 15, 2025, from July 30, 2025. This new due date applies to individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) and other taxpayers whose accounts don\u2019t require auditing.<\/p>\n

The CBDT ascribed the extension to the extensive changes implemented in the notified ITRs, citing the time needed for system readiness and the rollout of Income Tax Return (ITR) utilities for Assessment Year (AY) 2025\u201326.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Why Taxpayers Shouldn\u2019t Wait For Last Date\/Week?<\/h3>\n

It is prudent to file ITR before the last date. Near the end of the deadline, the portal may witness a surge in filing by taxpayers, as those who have been delaying the filing will turn to do so before the deadline.<\/p>\n

During that time, the portal may face technical glitches, outages, and longer buffering due to overload. Thus, it\u2019s better to complete your tax duties as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

September 15 Deadline For Those Who Don\u2019t Require Audit<\/h3>\n

The tax department has extended the deadline for those taxpayers who don\u2019t require audit to file the taxes. The changes in income tax forms, new slabs under new income tax and capital gain taxes have prompted the department to extend the dates.<\/p>\n

Who Can File ITR By October 31, 2025?<\/h3>\n

Taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited\u2014such as companies, proprietorships, and working partners in firms\u2014have until October 31, 2025, to file their income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26).<\/p>\n

Before they can do that, they must ensure their audit report is submitted by September 30, 2025. As of now, the Income Tax Department has not announced any extension to this deadline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
