Lucknow Super Giants star batter Ayush Badoni is playing for North Zone in the 2025 edition of the Duleep Trophy, and on Sunday (August 31), during the fourth and final day\u2019s play of the first quarterfinal match between North Zone and East Zone in Bengaluru, he has scored a double century. Badoni, who is also the captain of Delhi\u2019s Ranji Trophy team, needed 222 balls to cross the 200-run mark. He has hammered 12 fours and three sixes so far.<\/p>\n

Badoni, after coming out to bat at No. 4 in the second innings, first added 150 runs for the third wicket with captain Ankit Kumar, who made 198 runs from 321 balls, and then stitched a 157-run stand for the fourth wicket with Nishant Sindhu (68 runs from 91 balls).<\/p>\n

The double century by Badoni on Sunday also helped North Zone take complete control of the match against East Zone. Their total lead is now over the 830-run mark, and they are confirmed to qualify for the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Badoni plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and in 56 matches played so far for the Lucknow-based franchise, he has amassed a total of 963 runs. Badoni, who is the captain of Delhi\u2019s Ranji Trophy team, also made headlines in January 2025 when he captained Virat Kohli in the Ranji match for Delhi against Railways.<\/p>\n

Kohli, who is India\u2019s most successful Test captain, played his first Ranji game for Delhi in more than a decade earlier this year at Arun Jaitley Stadium against Railways. But in that fixture he failed to do much with the bat. In the contest that Delhi won by an innings and 19 runs, the 36-year-old right-handed batter scored six runs from 15 balls as a No. 4 batter.<\/p>\n

The match between Delhi and Railways turned out to be Kohli\u2019s last red-ball match as a professional cricketer because on May 12, 2025, he announced his retirement from Test cricket.<\/p>\n

In Kohli\u2019s last Ranji match as well, Ayush impressed with his batting. He came out to bat at No. 5 in that fixture and scored 99 runs from 77 balls.<\/p>\n
