Star English batter Alex Hales is playing for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 these days, and on Sunday (August 31), he joined legendary Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard in an elite list. The 36-year-old right-handed batter became the first Englishman and overall third cricketer in the world to score 14,000 runs in T20s.<\/p>\n

Hales needed 50 runs on Sunday to join the 14,000-run club in the shortest format of the game, and he achieved the objective by hitting Imran Tahir for a six on the last ball of the ninth over of TKR\u2019s innings in the match taking place at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba against Guyana Amazon Warriors.<\/p>\n

Gayle holds the record for scoring the most runs in T20s. The legendary left-handed batter played 463 matches for over a dozen teams during his 17-year-long career and amassed a total of 14,562 runs. He is followed by Pollard. The former West Indies T20I captain completed 14,000 runs in T20s on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Hales scored 74 runs from 43 balls for TKR on Sunday, and during his stay at the crease, he hammered three fours and seven sixes. He added 116 runs for the first wicket in 10.3 overs with Colin Munro (52 runs from 30 balls) and 20 runs for the fourth wicket with Pollard.<\/p>\n

He was sent back to the pavilion by Imran Tahir on the first ball of the 15th over of the run chase.<\/p>\n

Hales, who has scored 2074 runs in the 75 T20Is for England, has represented two more teams in the Caribbean Premier League. He played 12 matches in 2019 for Barbados Royals and amassed a total of 197 runs, whereas in 2023 he scored 217 runs in seven matches for Jamaica Tallawahs.<\/p>\n
