Shamita Shetty, who marked her Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films\u2019 Mohabbatein, has opened up about the struggles she faced despite a promising start in the industry with a film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and others.<\/p>\n

Shamita Shetty<\/a> recently revealed that soon after her debut, she had shot for four films \u2013 featuring names like Sanjay Dutt, Chandrachur Singh, and R Madhavan \u2013 but none of those projects saw the light of day. The unexpected setbacks stalled her career at a critical juncture, leaving her momentum disrupted, she told Pinkvilla.<\/p>\n

Her most recent outing, The Tenant, also met with hurdles. The film, which faced multiple delays, eventually released in only a few theatres with little to no marketing support. As a result, it went largely unnoticed, despite Shamita\u2019s hopes that it would at least receive a fair platform and release.<\/p>\n

The actress admitted that she continues to actively reach out to filmmakers and casting directors in search of meaningful roles. \u201cThere\u2019s no shame or harm in letting people know you\u2019re available and want to work,” she said, reflecting both her vulnerability and her determination to do good work.<\/p>\n

Shamita Shetty on dealing with comparisons with sister Shilpa Shetty<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked if being constantly compared to her elder sister frustrated her, Shamita instantly replied, \u201cNow no!” She went on to reveal how she once struggled with her own identity while growing up under the shadow of Shilpa\u2019s success. \u201cShilpa is the \u2018Holy Cow,\u2019 and I was always called the brat,” Shamita laughed, before adding, \u201cIt was very difficult just to be and discover more about myself. You constantly feel like, \u2018Oh maybe that\u2019s not good of me, or that\u2019s not right of me.\u2019 It creates a certain turmoil inside because then you don\u2019t know who you should be.”<\/p>\n

Shamita admitted that this confusion stayed with her for much of her childhood. However, over the years, she has grown into her own individuality. \u201cNow it\u2019s very different. I have come into my own, I am confident, and I am very clear about who I want to be. The comparisons don\u2019t really make any difference for me now,” she explained.<\/p>\n

She further added that she never really spoke up about how the comparisons made her feel as a child. Today, however, she feels strongly that pitting people against each other is pointless. \u201cIt\u2019s stupid to compare two human beings. Every personality is different. It\u2019s not just about siblings\u2014even two people in the same household can be exact opposites. That\u2019s exactly Shilpa and me. We have our own individual forte.”<\/p>\n
