In a throwback interview, Esha Deol and her ex-husband Bharat Takhtani spoke candidly about their marriage. Bharat admitted he didn\u2019t want Esha to \u201cput on weight\u201d and praised her for being \u201cgharelu,\u201d adding that she took care of his mother and adapted to family traditions despite not knowing how to cook initially.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Esha Deol and businessman Bharat Takhtani called it quits in 2024 after 11 years of marriage. Now, almost a year and a half later, it appears that Bharat has turned the page. The entrepreneur made his relationship Instagram official by posting a romantic photograph with entrepreneur Meghna Lakhani Talreja, captioned simply: \u201cWelcome to my family \u2764\ufe0f.”<\/p>\n

The announcement has sparked buzz online, as fans recall the couple\u2019s high-profile wedding in 2012. The lavish ceremony, hosted by Esha\u2019s parents\u2014Bollywood icons Dharmendra and Hema Malini\u2014was a star-studded affair. At the time, Bharat, a businessman not directly connected to the film industry, seemed to embrace the glamour that came with being married to a Bollywood star.<\/p>\n

Shortly after tying the knot, the couple gave an interview to Filmfare where Esha likened herself to Hema Malini\u2019s character in Satte Pe Satta, calling herself the \u201cfirst bahu” of the Takhtani family. Bharat, she revealed, often expected her to maintain a certain lifestyle. \u201cBharat doesn\u2019t want me to put on weight. We\u2019ll soon be joining ashtanga yoga classes,” Esha had said.<\/p>\n

Esha also candidly admitted that her mother, Hema Malini, wanted her to be the picture of a dutiful wife\u2014waking before her husband, helping her mother-in-law, and balancing household responsibilities with her work and dance practice.<\/p>\n

For his part, Bharat praised Esha\u2019s adaptability, saying she had always been \u201cgharelu” (homely) despite her self-image as the tomboyish \u201cboy of the house.” He fondly recalled her learning domestic skills for him, noting: \u201cFor someone who didn\u2019t know how to make chai, just the other day, she cooked Khow Suey.”<\/p>\n

The couple share two daughters\u2014Radhya and Miraya\u2014who continue to remain their priority despite the separation. While Esha has largely kept her personal life private since the divorce, Bharat\u2019s recent post with Meghna suggests he is ready to embrace a new chapter.<\/p>\n
