Star Mumbai Indians wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur\u2019s latest Instagram post featuring ace India batter Virat Kohli has gone viral on social media. The 24-year-old posted the picture this afternoon, which was seemingly clicked during IPL 2025, with the duo wearing their respective franchise jerseys.<\/p>\n

Puthur, a left-arm wristspinner from Malappuram, Kerala, made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians before featuring in senior-level cricket for his state.<\/p>\n

Picked from the Kerala T20 League, where he represented the Alleppey Ripples, Puthur made a brilliant IPL debut, claiming the wickets of Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda in Chennai.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the presence of greatness \ud83d\udc51,” Puthur posted on Instagram on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Puthur featured in just three games in the inaugural Kerala T20 League, picking up two wickets, but his left-arm mystery spin caught the eye of the Mumbai Indians, who invited him for IPL trials.<\/p>\n

Having been picked up for Rs 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction, Puthur tuned up for the tournament with a stint as a net bowler with MI Cape Town in the SA20.<\/p>\n

Puthur featured in Mumbai\u2019s only match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 in April, but he conceded 10 runs off an over, although he picked up the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli<\/a> smacked a six off him in that over as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the idea at MI is always seeing the potential more than anything else. And when we saw him for one of our trials, we saw the potential in him rather than looking into how much cricket he had played in the past,” MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey had said of Puthur after his starry debut against CSK.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe spins the ball pretty consistently. Lands the ball on pretty much what [where] we wanted. Is pretty accurate with it. I think those are the tick marks that we look into, but not only that,” Mhambrey added.<\/p>\n
