Singer Guru Randhawa, who has delivered multiple chart-topping hits in recent years, has now found himself at the centre of controversy. His latest music video, Azul, has been heavily criticised for allegedly sexualising schoolgirls and romanticising an inappropriate teacher-student relationship. While the outrage against the video continues to grow, Guru has broken his silence with a cryptic post on social media.<\/p>\n

Guru Randhawa\u2019s Cryptic Post Amid Controversy<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday, Guru Randhawa took to his Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of the analytics for Azul. The image showed the song trending with over 107,200 views in just one hour and more than 27,000 searches on YouTube. Alongside the statistics, Guru wrote, \u201cAzul is Azuling (wine glass emojis). When God is with you, you only move forward (red heart emoji).”<\/p>\n

While the singer did not directly address the criticism surrounding the video, his post appeared to signal gratitude for the song\u2019s popularity despite the outrage. However, he also restricted comments on the official Instagram post of the video, preventing fans and critics alike from leaving feedback.<\/p>\n

In the Azul video, Guru plays a photography teacher who appears captivated by a student, played by actor Anshika Pandey, dressed in school uniform. A dance sequence between the two characters has particularly drawn backlash on social media, with many accusing the song of normalising inappropriate dynamics.<\/p>\n

Legal Trouble Over Song Sirra<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is not the only controversy that has come Randhawa\u2019s way recently. His earlier track, Sirra, has also sparked legal trouble. A complaint was filed in a Ludhiana court by Rajdeep Singh Mann of Samrala, who objected to certain lyrics in the song. The complainant argued that the lines\u2014\u201cWe are the sons of Jatts. We got opium as our first food when we were born”\u2014promote drug culture and defame the Jatt community.<\/p>\n

The sub-divisional judicial magistrate Rajinder Singh has directed Guru Randhawa to appear in court, either in person or through counsel, under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for examination of the complaint.<\/p>\n

Despite the ongoing controversy, Sirra has been a massive commercial success, crossing over 60 million views on YouTube. Similarly, Azul continues to trend, although the negative attention has overshadowed its streaming numbers.<\/p>\n

What Lies Ahead For Guru Randhawa?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guru Randhawa has not yet issued any official clarification about the content of Azul. For now, his cryptic post suggests he is relying on faith and his fanbase to push through the backlash. <\/p>\n
