The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley has commended the proliferation of T20 leagues across the nation, emphasising that these tournaments aren\u2019t competitors but invaluable platforms for discovering and nurturing new talent.<\/p>\n

Jaitley has asserted that such initiatives enhance India\u2019s cricketing ecosystem and contribute to the overall growth of the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cState leagues are not competitors; they are feeders to their own ecosystems. Each state has its own talent pool and structure. More leagues mean more opportunities for players, which is beneficial for Indian cricket overall.”<\/p>\n

Discussing the second edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), Jaitley noted that the competition has seen improvements in scale, organisation and quality compared to its inaugural season.<\/p>\n

Jaitley emphasised that the league hasn\u2019t only enhanced on-field performances but has made significant progress in strengthening the ecosystem for both men\u2019s and women\u2019s cricket in the capital as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an administrator, you always aim to improve from the previous season\u2014better organisation, preparation and execution. I\u2019m pleased to say this year the league is more structured and professional,” Jaitley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTeams are better prepared, management is sharper and the overall ecosystem has grown stronger. Records won\u2019t be broken every season, you might not see six sixes in an over every year, but what matters is the consistency and scale of the competition,” Jaitley added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no downside, players are fitter, more committed and better prepared. They\u2019ve been in game mode for weeks, with fitness camps and matches keeping them at their peak ahead of the domestic season,” he added.<\/p>\n

Two new teams were added to the roster in DPL this season. The President praised the new team owners for their professional approach, highlighting that they have seamlessly integrated into the league\u2019s ecosystem and brought fresh energy to the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new team owners have integrated very well into the ecosystem. They\u2019ve been professional in their approach, and the existing teams have been supportive. It\u2019s encouraging to see more players getting opportunities, which strengthens the league,” he further said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the DPL\u2019s live broadcast, he stated, \u201cHaving the league on Star Sports is a significant differentiator. While many tournaments are limited to digital platforms, television provides unmatched reach and visibility, adding immense value for both players and fans.”<\/p>\n
