The manufacturing sector grows at 5.4% in July 2025.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

The country\u2019s factory output, based on the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), records growth of 3.5% in July 2025, driven by 5.4% growth in the manufacturing sector, according to the latest official data released on Thursday, August 2025. The IIP growth had stood at 1.5% in the previous month of June 2025.<\/p>\n

The country\u2019s industrial output earlier recorded this level of growth at 3.9 per cent in March 2025. It had expanded by five per cent in July 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cDriven by 5.4% growth in manufacturing sector, Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a 3.5% year-on-year growth in July 2025,” the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Mining production contracted by 7.2 per cent against a growth of 3.8 per cent recorded a year ago. Power production rose by a meagre 0.6 per cent in July 2025 against 7.9 per cent in the year-ago period.<\/p>\n

During the April-July period of FY26, the country\u2019s total industrial production grew by 2.3 per cent compared to 5.4 per cent a year ago.<\/p>\n

Manufacturing Grows 5.4% In July 2025 Vs 4.7% A Year Ago<\/strong><\/p>\n

The latest NSO data showed that the manufacturing sector\u2019s output growth rose to 5.4 per cent in July 2025 from 4.7 per cent in the year-ago month.<\/p>\n

Within the manufacturing sector, 14 out of 23 industry groups at NIC 2 digit-level have recorded a positive growth in July 2025 over July 2024.<\/p>\n

The top three positive contributors for the month of July 2025 are \u2018Manufacture of basic metals\u2019 (12.7%), \u2018Manufacture of electrical equipment\u2019 (15.9%) and \u2018Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products\u2019 (9.5%), the official data showed.<\/p>\n

In the industry group \u2018Manufacture of basic metals\u2019, item groups \u2018MS slabs\u2019, \u2018HR coils and sheets of mild steel\u2019 and \u2018Flat products of Alloy Steel\u2019 have shown significant contribution in growth, it said.<\/p>\n

In the industry group \u2018Manufacture of electrical equipment\u2019, item groups \u2018Electric heaters\u2019, \u2018Electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits (e.g switchgear, circuit breakers\/switches, control\/ meter panel)\u2019, and \u2018Transformers (Small)\u2019 have shown significant contribution in growth, the minister added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the industry group \u2018Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products\u2019 item groups \u2018Cement- all types\u2019, \u2018Cement Clinkers\u2019 and \u2018Marble slab polished or not\u2019 have shown significant contribution in growth,” according to the statement.<\/p>\n
